In December of 2019, the Petersham Selectboard appointed a Nichewaug Inn & Academy Committee 2020 (NIAC 2020). In the winter of 2020 the Town applied for and received a District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) grant of planning services from the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC). Subsequently the NIAC 2020 has been working with Karen Chapman, MRPC’s Senior Planner, to develop a Nichewaug Inn & Academy Public Opinion Survey that is being mailed to everyone in Petersham. A link to the online survey is also available on the Town’s website. A Public Information Session will be held in late fall after the survey is completed to discuss survey results.

NICHEWAUG - SECOND PUBLIC INPUT MEETING Posted 5-17-2016 The Town of Petersham will hold the second public information and input meeting with the town’s planning consultant, Ted Carman from Concord Square Planning & Development, regarding the Nichewaug Inn property on Monday, May 23rd, at 7 pm. The agenda for this second meeting, to be held at the lower level of the Petersham Town Hall, will be for Mr. Carman to present a progress report on the information gathered so far and to solicit input on a number of possible options to be evaluated in more depth. These options will differ on how to address the possible redevelopment of the Nichewaug Inn and Academy property. The schedule calls for two additional public information and input meetings at various stages of the planning process over the next four months. PUBLIC INPUT MEETING - APRIL 13, 2016 Posted 3-29-2016 The Petersham will hold a public information meeting on Wednesday, April 13th, at 6 pm at the Petersham Town Hall, lower level, 1 South Main Street, with the newly-hired planning consultant Ted Carman from Concord Square Planning & Development Inc. (http://www.concordsqdev.com/) and other members of the consulting team. The agenda for this initial meeting will be for Mr. Carman to introduce the team and to hear from town residents about the history of past efforts to redevelop the long-vacant Nichewaug Inn and Academy property and to understand their concerns, thoughts, and hopes for the property.
