Public Information Meeting on the 2020 Opinion Survey about the Nichewaug Inn & Academy Property

The town’s Nichewaug Inn & Academy Committee 2020 will hold a virtual public information meeting on Wednesday 2/24/2021 at 6:30 pm. This meeting will be hosted by the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission’s Karen Chapman. Last year the MRPC worked with our town through a DLTA grant to develop a public opinion survey. The results of this survey (which can be accessed below) will be the focus of this meeting. Karen will present the data compiled from the survey and will hold a Q&A session following the presentation.  MRPC's presentation has now been posted here.  Meeting attendees will be muted during Karen's presentation but an online 'Chat" option will be available. NICHEWAUG INN SURVEY UPDATE

The Nichewaug Inn & Academy Committee 2020, working with the MRPC, has released the results of last fall's public opinion survey on the Inn & Academy property – For details click here.

A public information meeting to discuss these results will be scheduled in 2021.


Release of Public Opinion Survey

In December of 2019, the Petersham Selectboard appointed a Nichewaug Inn & Academy Committee 2020 (NIAC 2020). In the winter of 2020 the Town applied for and received a District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) grant of planning services from the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC).  Subsequently the NIAC 2020 has been working with Karen Chapman, MRPC’s Senior Planner, to develop a Nichewaug Inn & Academy Public Opinion Survey that is being mailed to everyone in Petersham. A link to the online survey is also available on the Town’s website.  A Public Information Session will be held in late fall after the survey is completed to discuss survey results.

The deadline for filing proposals under the “All –Options” RFP is 11am June 28, 2018 in the Town Selectboard Office , 3 South Main Street Petersham, MA 013665.Complete proposal instructions and filing requirements in the RFP can be accessed on the town website,www.TownofPetersham.org under the Town Business tab then under Nichewaug Property or at the Town Selectboard Office. NICHEWAUG - SECOND PUBLIC INPUT MEETING

The Town of Petersham will hold the second public information and input meeting with the town’s planning consultant, Ted Carman from Concord Square Planning & Development, regarding the Nichewaug Inn property on Monday, May 23rd, at 7 pm. The agenda for this second meeting, to be
held at the lower level of the Petersham Town Hall, will be for Mr. Carman to present a progress report on the information gathered so far and to solicit input on a number of possible options to be evaluated in more depth. These options will differ on how to address the possible redevelopment of the Nichewaug Inn and Academy property. The schedule calls for two additional public information and input meetings at various stages of the planning process over the next four months. Notes from meetings held by the consultant on May 6 th with various town committees, abutters and other interested residents are posted on the ‘Nichewaug Property’ page under the ‘Town Business’ tab of the Town’s website, http://www.townofpetersham.org/. Also posted there are the notes and the presentation from the first public input meeting held on April 13 th . Concord Square Planning & Development is working on developing several options for the town-owned Nichewaug Inn property for town residents to consider and evaluate. PUBLIC INPUT MEETING - APRIL 13, 2016

The 
Petersham will hold a public information meeting on Wednesday, April 13th, at 6 pm at the Petersham Town Hall, lower level, 1 South Main Street, with the newly-hired planning consultant Ted Carman from Concord Square Planning & Development Inc. (http://www.concordsqdev.com/) and other members of the consulting team.  The agenda for this initial meeting will be for Mr. Carman to introduce the team and to hear from town residents about the history of past efforts to redevelop the long-vacant Nichewaug Inn and Academy property and to understand their concerns, thoughts, and hopes for the property.  A schedule for the planning process over the next six months will be proposed and discussed.
The town’s original RFP seeking a planning consultant and Concord Square’s proposal in response can be found below.  Concord Square will be developing viable options for the town-owned Nichewaug Inn property for the town to consider and evaluate.  All interested Petersham residents are strongly encouraged to attend and actively participate in the planning process.
